Electric stove burner won't turn off

A range's control panel can allow the user to select the heating functions for both a stovetop and an oven. If the control panel is defective, one or more of the buttons may have shorted and you will not be able to turn off the element. If you've confirmed the surface element itself has not shorted and the element is controlled by a touchpad, it's likely that touchpad or control panel is faulty.

Range display board not working

The range's control panel will usually display the time, temperature, and settings for the range. If the control panel has power to it but the display is dead, missing digits or dim, it will need to be replaced.

Stove turns off on its own

If a stove turns off on its own, determine if some of the buttons on the touchpad respond intermittently or not at all. If so, it's likely the control panel is faulty and should be replaced. 

Oven door won't unlock/locks intermittently

If the door lock motor tests appropriately for electrical continuity, but the oven door still won't unlock or locks intermittently, it's possible that a control panel component is defective and the panel is unable to properly control the door lock motor. To help determine this, you can test for voltage reaching the door lock motor. If no voltage is reaching the motor, it's likely the control panel requires replacement.

Wall oven display board not working

The wall oven's control panel will usually display the time, temperature, and settings for the range. If the control panel has power to it but the display is dead, missing digits or dim, it will need to be replaced.

Gas Oven Won't Self-Clean — Gas Range Troubleshooting

This free troubleshooting video shows quick maintenance tips including cleaning the cooktop and oven, replacing the drip bowls, using the self-clean function, and replacing the oven bulb for keeping your range or stove working safely and efficiently. Broiler pan The broiler pan that comes with most range/ovens is porcelain-coated steel. Clean it with a non-abrasive cleanser. If you want to replace the broiler pan instead, we offer one called the Broiler Pan and Insert. Control panel Most range/oven control panels are glass and/or painted metal. You can safely use non-abrasive cleaners on these surfaces. We offer a wide selection of range/stove/oven cleaner and deodorizer parts. Note: Never spray cleaners directly onto the control panel. Instead, put some cleaner on a soft, damp rag, then wipe the surface. Cooktop: You can clean any porcelain cooktop with a non-abrasive cleanser. Note: Don't pour the cleanser directly onto the cooktop. Instead, put some cleaner on a soft, damp rag, then wipe the surface. Burner drip pans (bowls): You usually need to replace the drip pans or bowls beneath the grates on a gas stove/range and beneath the heating element on an electric stove/range every 2 to 3 years. That's because, once they're stained, it's usually not possible to clean them completely. The self-cleaning feature works by heating the interior of the oven to a temperature so hot that it incinerates the residue inside the oven. Normally, it is not a good idea to clean the interior of a self-cleaning oven with a spray cleaner; however, refer to your owner's manual or contact the manufacturer of your oven for further information. To clean a non-self-cleaning oven, use one of the many oven cleaners that are available at grocery and hardware stores. Solid burner element: Some stove/ranges have heating element burners that are solid metal--there's no coil, and the stove/range isn't glass or ceramic. You can clean these solid burners using our Solid Surface Element Cleaner.
