Dishwasher buttons/controls not working

Control operations with this genuine OEM control panel, part number 808173, built for select Amana, Admiral, or Crosley Dishwasher.

The control panel is the  component that allows the user to choose a dishwasher's wash and dry setting. If some or all of the buttons aren't working, you should first determine if the control works at all or if the display indicator lights are illuminated. If lights are illuminated or some of the control works, it's likely the control panel is faulty and will need to be replaced. If no lights and no functionality is present, it's more likely a line fuse or main control board is at fault.

Dishwasher lights flashing or blinking

If the dishwasher lights are flashing or blinking, first confirm that the display is working. If the display is working, try pressing the control panel buttons. If some of the buttons don’t respond correctly, it is possible that the entire control panel is at fault and the component will need to be replaced.

Dishwasher stops mid-cycle

If the dishwasher stops mid-cycle, a relay in the control panel may be damaged. Try pressing various buttons on the control panel touchpad. If some of the buttons don’t respond, the control panel is likely defective. (Some manufacturers sell the touchpad separately from the control panel. Other manufacturers require that you purchase the touchpad and control panel together. If you cannot replace the touchpad individually, replace the touchpad and control panel.)

Dishwasher starts on its own

If the dishwasher is starting on its own, a relay in the control panel may have shorted. Try pressing various buttons on the control panel touchpad. If some of the buttons don’t respond, the control panel is likely defective. (Some manufacturers sell the touchpad separately from the control panel. Other manufacturers require that you purchase the touchpad and control panel together. If you cannot replace the touchpad individually, replace the touchpad and control panel.)

Exterior cleaning Just clean the exterior of your dishwasher with a damp sponge and a little dish detergent.
