Furnace Circulation Blower Fan Motor Replacement

Furnace not heating

The spinning blower wheel will circulate the heated air throughout the home's venting. If something is obstructing the blower wheel and preventing it from turning, the air won't be circulated. Inspect the blower wheel and housing for any obstructions and confirm the wheel is properly seated on the motor shaft and can rotate freely.

Furnace is noisy or loud

Over time the blower wheel can become clogged with dust and debris or the set screw securing the blower wheel to the motor shaft can loosen. This can cause the blower to become unbalanced and vibrate or rub against the housing. You can try tightening or replacing the set screw to fix the problem. You can also try cleaning the blower wheel with compressed air or with a soft bristle brush. Use caution when trying to clean the blower wheel as the fins are sharp and can be easily damaged. If the blower wheel and housing is damaged, the assembly will need to be replaced.

Furnace blower not running

Check the blower wheel to ensure that it spins freely. If the wheel is obstructed, that will prevent the blower from running. A damaged blower wheel and housing should be replaced. If the blower wheel and housing are in good condition and unobstructed, but the blower wheel does not spin freely, the the blower motor has likely seized and will need to be replaced.

Over time the blower wheel and housing can become clogged with dust and debris. This will restrict the air flow, preventing the furnace from blowing enough.
