Dryer blower wheel. Used on 29 inch Whirlpool built models with lint filter on top. To remove the blower wheel, unscrew the blower wheel  clockwise off the motor shaft.

Air conditioner fan not working

The blower motor may be burned out or worn out. First, check the fan blades. If the blades don’t spin freely, replace the blower motor. Second, make sure that power is getting to the blower motor. If the blower motor is getting power but the motor still won’t run, replace it. It is not possible to repair the blower motor; if it is defective, you must replace it.

Air conditioner is loud or noisy

One or more of the fan blades might be scraping against the housing. Air conditioners have a fan blade in the front and a fan blade in the rear. Check both fan blades to ensure that they are not rubbing against the housing. If the blades aren’t rubbing against the housing and the fan motor is still noisy, check the blower motor bearings for wear. If the bearings are worn, replace the blower motor.

Air conditioner coils freezing

Since the air conditioner's blower motor is the component that circulates the air through unit to cool it, a defective blower motor could result in the coils icing up. You can use a multimeter to test the blower motor for electrical continuity, a continuous electrical path present in the motor, as well as determine if power is reaching the motor. You can also try turning the blower wheel by hand. If the wheel does not turn freely, it's likely the motor bearings have seized and the blower motor will need to be replaced.

The blower motor spins a blower wheel to circulate the heated air throughout the home's venting. If the motor is burned out, the air will not be circulated. You should try turning the blower wheel by hand to determine if it can rotate freely. If blower wheel does not turn freely, it's likely the blower motor bearings have seized and the motor will need to be replaced. You can also use a multimeter to determine if voltage is reaching the motor. If power is getting to the component, but the motor doesn't run, it is likely defective.

Furnace is noisy or loud

Over time, the bearings in the blower motor wear out, causing the motor to become noisy. Some furnace motors can be lubricated—if your furnace motor can be lubricated, try lubricating it first. If lubricating the motor doesn’t solve the problem, or if your motor can’t be lubricated, replace the motor. 

Furnace blower not running

The blower motor blows air through the return vent, past the heat exchanger, and into the home’s venting. First, make sure that power is getting to the motor. If power is getting to the blower motor, but the motor does not run, the motor may be burned out. If the blower motor is burned out, replace it. If the blower motor hums, check the blower fan to ensure that it spins freely. If the blower fan is unobstructed but does not spin freely, replace the blower motor.

You can also use a multimeter to test the blower motor for an electrical short, or determine if there are any burnt smells coming from the motor. You can also try turning the blower wheel by hand. If the wheel does not turn freely, it's likely the motor bearings have seized. If the motor doesn't turn freely or is shorted, the blower motor will need to be replaced.

Air conditioner circuit breaker keeps tripping

If the blower motor windings are shorted out the breaker will likely trip when power is applied to the motor. You can try disconnecting the motor from the unit to see if the breaker will still trip. You can use a multimeter to check if the motor windings are shorted. A shorted motor will usually have a burnt smell and will need to be replaced.
