Step-By-Step Instructions1
To replace the user interface panel wire harness in this Whirlpool top load washer, you will need a quarter inch nut driver and a putty knife.
2
Before you begin the procedure, unplug the appliance's power cord.
3
Have an assistant help you to move the washer away from the wall.
4
Use the quarter inch nut driver to unthread the two rear screws securing the control panel assembly.
5
Next, insert a putty knife under the front corners of the control panel housing to release the clips securing the housing.
6
Disconnect the user interface control wire connector so you can set the control panel assembly aside.
7
Next, unthread the eight screws securing the user interface panel to the housing using the quarter-inch nut driver.
8
With the screws unthreaded, release the wires from the retainer, then depress the retaining tabs to fully release the user interface panel from the housing.
9
You can now release the old wire harness from the retainers, then disconnect it from the user interface board to fully remove.
10
To install the new user interface panel wire harness, connect the appropriate end to the board, then secure the wires under the retainers.
11
Insert the opposite wire connector through the hole in the control panel housing as you position the user interface panel, then snap the panel into place.
12
Thread the eight screws to secure.
13
Secure the wires in the retainer.
14
Connect the user interface control wire connector to the main control board.
15
Insert the rear control panel housing clips in the rear slots in the main top first, then snap the front clips into place.
16
Re-thread the two rear screws to fully secure.
17
Move the washer back against the wall.
18
Plug the appliance's power cord back in, and the washer should be ready for use.
