Step-By-Step Instructions1
To replace a rear tub suspension rod in your frigidaire laundry center…
2
… you will need a putty knife, a phillips-head screwdriver, and a two-by-four wood support.
3
Before you begin the procedure, unplug the power cord…
4
… and shut off the incoming water supply.
5
Have an assistant help you to move the appliance away from the wall or out of the closet.
6
Detach the venting from the dryer.
7
Remove the hot and cold-water supply lines from the inlet valve – be prepared for some water to spill.
8
Remove the end of the drain hose from the standpipe or laundry tub.
9
Use the putty knife to release the two retaining clips securing the washer’s main top.
10
Lift up the top and disconnect the lid lock assembly wire connecter.
11
You can now fully remove the main top.
12
Have an assistant help you to lift and support the front of the appliance.
13
Use the phillips-head screwriver to unthread the two screws securing the washer’s front panel to the base.
14
With the screws unthreaded, remove the support…
15
… then push the panel down to fully remove.
16
Detach the appropriate suspension rod spring from the tub cover.
17
Now carefully tip the appliance back so it rests on its rear panel.
18
Place the two-by-four wood support under the tub to support it.
19
Move the tub towards the top of the cabinet to provide enough slack to remove the suspension rod support cap – be careful not to damage the out-of-balance lever.
20
Use another piece of wood to support the tub.
21
Shift the rod you’re replacing up then push down on the cap to detach.
22
Rotate and twist the cap to fully remove.
23
You can now fully remove the old rod by sliding it out through the bottom of the outer tub.
24
You’re now ready to install the new tub suspension rod.
25
Hold the suspension rod spring up against the rod as you slide the rod through the hole in the outer tub.
26
Insert the top of the rod through the hole in the support.
27
Slide the support cap over the end of the rod then rotate to align the end of the rod with the long slot and you can snap the cap into place.
28
Remove the side two-by-four wood support.
29
Move the out-of-balance lever out of the way and shift the tub back down toward the base.
30
Remove the wood support from underneath the tub.
31
Return the laundry center to its upright position.
32
Attach the suspension rod spring to the tub cover mounting post.
33
Reinstall the front panel…
34
… by aligning the tabs on the panel with the slots in the frame…
35
… then lift the panel up until the top edge aligns with the top of the frame.
36
Support the front of the appliance…
37
…then replace the two lower screws to secure the panel.
39
Reinstall the washer’s main top…
40
… by first reconnecting the lid lock assembly wire connecter.
41
Secure the wire in the retaining clip.
42
Now slide the rear of the main top under the rear retaining clips…
43
… then realign the main top and push down to snap it into position.
44
Reinsert the drain hose into the standpipe or hook it onto the edge of the tub.
45
Reattach the hot and cold-water supply lines to the inlet valve ports.
47
… and move the appliance back against the wall or into the closet.
48
Turn the water supply back on…
49
… plug the power cord back in…
50
… and your laundry center should be ready for use.
