Furnace flame sensor. The flame sensor monitors the burner to detect whether or not a flame is present. If the flame sensor is defective, the furnace may not heat.

A relay board is often used to control components of an a central air condidtioner. If the blower motor is not receiving power, the relay board is likely the cause.   A defective relay board will need to be replaced.


Air handler not heating

A relay board is often used to keep the indoor blower from running until there is sufficient heat at the beginning of the heating cycle and to keep the blower on at the end of the heating cycle to circulate any residual heat. If the relay board is defective the blower may not run or may run intermittently, A defective relay board will need to be replaced.


Heat pump not heating

Air handler has a burning smell

A relay board is often used to keep the indoor blower from running until there is sufficient heat at the beginning of the heating cycle and to keep the blower on at the end of the heating cycle to circulate any residual heat. If the contacts or terminal connections are not making good contact they can heat up causing a burning  smell.  A defective relay board will need to be replaced.
